PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the clogging of a gas venting hole even in the case of heating a cavity surface using the gas venting holes with burners. SOLUTION: This is a method for preheating a metallic mold 1 for casting by using gas venting materials 21, 22 having many gas venting holes at least at a part of cavity surfaces 10. In the metallic mold 1 for casting, gas guiding holes 210, 220 communicated with the inner part of the gas venting materials 21, 22 are arranged and the cavity surfaces 10 are heated with the flames 6 of the burners 9 while spouting inert gas 7 in the cavity from the gas venting holes by pressing the inert gas 7 into the gas guiding holes 210, 220.
