Stigmatic imaging toroidal mirror-plane grid-monochromator for electromagnetic radiation forms image of input aperture stigmatically on output aperture over entire range of wavelengths

The monochromator has fixed defined input and output apertures (2,3) and incident and output beam axes, a plane reflection grid (5), a toroidal mirror (4) or an ellipsoidal mirror approximating to it and an optional further plane mirror (7). An image of the input aperture (2) is formed stigmatically on the output aperture (3) over the entire range of wavelengths of the monochromator.
