The method involves generating a compensation signal whereby an acquired error signal is fed to a filter arrangement with a preliminary stage and a main stage and combining it with a reference signal using least mean square error elimination in the preliminary stage and feeding the result to the main stage. The acquired error signal is transformed into a complex signal form and combined with the reference signal in the preliminary stage using a complex least mean square error elimination technique.
