The connections (2) between the mobile data nodes (3-6) and higher function performing devices (8-10), and between the subscriber units (1a-1c) and the respective transmitter/receiver units (3) are provided by a broadband arrangement formed with the aid of at least one signal transmitting medium in the form of at least one optical fibre, copper wire or coaxial cable, or a combination thereof. At least one data transmission channel is created by adapting and/or replacing methods, transmission techniques and/or devices in the transmitter and receiver, which involves selecting at least one frequency or wavelength and then modulating it. Data which has become corrupt during transmission is corrected and then sent, the frequency channel is divided up, selected, compiled and disconnected. Data structures and functions are formed for handling customer mobility and separating different types of data traffic. Billing and handling of payment flows in the system for subscriber units connected to the broadband arragenemtn is created using the mobile data network nodes and the higher function performing devices. The mobile data network nodes comprise one or more transmitter/receiver units and a base station unit (4) for connecting to their own network (7) for circuit-linked data traffic, to an internal network (12) in which packet-linked data traffic is exchanged, and preferably to additional networks (14-16) in which services such as the internet or X-25 are carried out. |
