PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make obtainable a heat developable photosensitive material giving a high contrast and high density image, excellent in preservability of the image and being easily handleable, conveyable and excellent in dot reproducibility by incorporating a hardening agent selected from hydrazine and a quaternary onium salt into a heat developable photosensitive material, specifying the coefficient of dynamic friction of a side of the photosensitive material opposite to the side with a photosensitive layer and incorporating at least one of specified compounds. SOLUTION: The heat developable photosensitive material contains a hardening agent selected from hydrazine and a quaternary onium salt, the coefficient of dynamic friction of a side of the photosensitive material opposite to the side with a photosensitive layer, that is, the back coat side is 0.1-0.35 and the photosensitive material contains at least one of compounds of formulae I, II, etc. In the formula I, EWD is an electron withdrawing group and R1-R3 are each H or a monovalent substituent but at least one of R1 and R2 is a monovalent substituent. In the formula II, R4 and R5 are each H, an alkyl or the like, R4 and R5 may bond to each other to form a 5- to 7-membered ring and X is H, an alkyl or the like.
