PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the heat-developable ultracontrasty image forming material which is small in adverse effect on human bodies and environments and stable and extremely small in fog in the case of fluctuation of heat-development conditions and adapted to forming a printing plate by using a polyhalogen compound extremely small in volatility. SOLUTION: The heat-developable image forming material contains, on at least one same side of a support (a) a reducible silver salt, (b) a reducing agent, (c) a binder, and sensitive layer containing a photosensitive silver halide and (d) a polymer having repeating units derived from a monomer of a polyalogen compound represented by the formula in which Ht is an aryl or heterocyclic group; each of E1 and E2 is, independently, a halogen atom; W is an H atom or an electron withdrawing group; R is a substituent; (k) is an integer of 0-4; Q is an ethylenically unsaturated group or a group having such a group; (m) is 1, 2 or 3; (n) is 1 or 2; when (k), (m), and (k) is >=2, each of 2 or more groups may be same or different.
