PURPOSE: A device for driving a key pad is provided to display selectable buttons in a device having menu performances, so as to easily use the key path driving device. CONSTITUTION: A light emitting diode(LED) driving register(10) translates key inputs to supply a translated result to a menu processing circuit(12). The menu processing circuit performs a menu for the key inputs in a key input processing circuit(10). A memory(14) stores a menu/button map table for displaying usable buttons and receives step information supplied from the menu processing circuit, to generate select signals determining the buttons. The LED driving register drives to light on a LED. The LED is combined with buttons determined by the select signals. For example, if a user presses a button of a key pad in a telephone, an inputting circuit(10) decides that the pressed button is either a button for a phone number inputting or a function button for a menu selecting. If the button is the function button, the inputting circuit supplies the function button to the menu processing circuit. The menu processing circuit performs determined operation by the function button. When the menu performance are required for selective inputs, the menu processing circuit supplies the step information to the memory. The memory outputs a selective signal, which determines the selectable buttons corresponding to the step information. The LED driving register drives to light on corresponding LEDs in a key pad LED set(18) according to the select signals from the memory.
