PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the power level per antenna element and to employ and a power amplifier technology at a low cost per watt. SOLUTION: A distributed antenna system that distributes power over a plurality of antenna (array) elements includes a plurality of transmission antenna elements 12 and a plurality of power amplifiers 14, and each power amplifier is coupled with one of the antenna elements in an operationable way. A power less caused by fitting any of the antenna element very closely to another relating antenna element is not detected between the power amplifier and the relating antenna element. Each power amplifier is a linear power amplifier chip that is operated at a comparatively low power and comparatively low in the cost per watt. The antenna array is applicable to various facilities including a private communication system such as a cellular system, a personal communication system PCS, a multi-channel multipoint distribution system, a LAN or a WLANS.
