The invented method for regrinding tools with straight and spiral flutes by making use of a positioning head (1) being provided with two contact pins (2, 3) reaching in a flute (10) is carried out in such a manner that the first contact pin (2) guided in the direction of feed in front of the grinding wheel (8) is drawn off prior entry in the flute (10) run-out from the flute (10) and subsequently the first contact pin (3) being fixedly coupled with the positioning head (1) and following the grinding wheel (8) takes over the guidance of a tailstock barrel located on the working spindle head. The device for making the above-described method of regrinding tools having straight and spiral flutes comprises a positioning head (1) and contact pins (2, 3.
