PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To regulate a volume of an ink tank and to freely set a volume of a different ink tank responsive to a nib's lifetime for one type of a barrel by arranging a volume regulating member for reducing a volume of the tank in the tank. SOLUTION: The direct liquid feed type writing instrument 1 for temporarily holding an overflowing ink responsive to a pressure change in an ink tank 4 by an ink retaining member 5 having a nib 2 at a front portion of a barrel 3 made of a cylinder with a bottom is formed by mounting the member 5 at the front portion of the barrel 3, and forming the tank 4 in the barrel 3 rear of the member 5. A volume regulating member 7 for reducing a volume of the tank 4 is arranged in the tank 4. The member 7 is inserted from a front end opening of the barrel 3, pushed rearward while smoothly inserting a longitudinal rib 41 into a longitudinal groove 71 by a guide surface 73, and finally press injected and fixed to a bottom of the tank 4 (barrel 3). |
