PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot roll for copper and copper alloy, reduced in the occurrence of surface roughing, heat crack, and wear in the plane used for rolling. SOLUTION: The hot roll for copper and copper alloy has a composition consisting of, by weight, 0.32-0.45% C, <=1.5% Si, 0.2-1.5% Mn, 4.0-6.0% Cr, >1.5-6.0% Mo, 0.2-1.2% V, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities and also has 50 to <57 HRC hardness. The hot roll is reduced in the surface roughing, heat crack, and wear of the plane used for rolling and can be used for rolling about 1.46 to 1.65 times that using the conventional hot roll.
