PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching circuit, where switching can be executed at high speed and the loss of power is less and to provide a switching element by which the manufacture of the switching circuit is facilitated. SOLUTION: An emitter E and a collector C are formed of n-type regions and a base B1 and a sub-base B2 are formed of p-type regions. A load is connected between the positive pole of a power source DCV and a collector terminal tC, a resistor R1 between the positive pole of the power source DCV and a sub-base terminal tB2 and the negative pole of the power source DCV to an emitter terminal tE. When base current is supplied from a control terminal to a base terminal tB1, the section between the emitter E and the collector C is saturated. Even if the control terminal is opened later, the section between the emitter E and the collector C continues to be saturated. It the voltage of the control terminal is made such that the part between the base B and the emitter E is not forward biased, the part between the emitter E and the collector C is interrupted.
