PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera capable of easily managing picture data. SOLUTION: A digital camera 10 includes a CPU 28, and when a shutter button 44 is pressed, a CPU 28 fetches new still picture data (new data) to an SDRAM 26, and detects an output X from an acceleration sensor 50. The CPU 28 decides the significance level of the new data based on the output X. Also, the new data are compressed by a JPEG codec 30, and temporarily held in a DRAM 32. In this case, when the dead capacity of a memory card 36 is sufficient, the compressed new data and table data (attribute information) are stored in the memory card 36 as they are. When the dead capacity is insufficient, the preserved compressed data whose significance level is lower and whose dates are older are sequentially and selectively deleted, and stored in the memory card 36. Thus, the data are managed based on attribute information so that the data can be easily managed.
