FIBER TYPE OPTICAL SWITCH

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve mass productivity and to lessen coupling loss of light by constituting the widths of a pair of grooves in such a manner that one of guide pins comes into contact with the sidewalls near the first fiber side of the grooves and a retaining plate and that the other of the guide pins comes into contact with the retaining plate alone. SOLUTION: The ends of the optical fibers are fixed to a movable fiber holding block 106 made of soft magnetic ceramics of a movable structure. The grooves 202a and b are formed at the block 106 and the guide pins 105a and b are inserted into the respective grooves 202a and b. The retaining plate 201 is joined to the surfaces on the upper side of the grooves 202a and b so as to cap the surface. The guide pins 105a and b have the cross-sectional shape smaller in the size in the depth direction of the grooves 202a and b than the depth of the grooves 202a and b. The widths of a pair of the grooves 202a and b are so constituted that one of the guide pins comes into contact with the sidewalls nearer the first fiber side of the grooves 202a and b and the retaining plate 202 and the other comes into contact with the retaining plate 202 alone.
