The engine regulation method regulates the torque (M) delivered by the engine (BMK) in dependence on the engine exhaust emission and/or fuel consumption parameters, for optimization of the latter, with control of the braking torque provided by the electrical generator (G) driven by the engine, e.g. by controlling the generator energizing current, for reduction of the delivered engine torque.
