An ink-jet recording method and apparatus having an interpreter section therein adapted for suppressing ink splash during solid region printing. The command and data for ordering printing of a thick line or a solid region is interpreted by the interpreter section, thereafter the vector data on the thick line or solid region is converted to raster data according to the pattern given thereto, and ink is ejected according to the raster data while the recording head is scanned over a recording medium. Before the conversion to the raster data, for each thick line or solid region to be printed, the interpreter section checks whether the pattern is of a type which requires an instruction to do solid printing (S44). If the pattern is of the type, the pattern is changed to a pattern of low density (S47). |
