A process and assembly (1) remove solid particles from gas by a filter (2) located within a housing (3). The gas to be filtered is piped to the filter together with a powder or dust filtration-aid medium (7). The filter (2) is cleaned at pre-determined intervals, the filtration-aid medium (7a) being collected in a container (17). Fresh filtration aid medium (7) is then admixed to the used medium (7a) and returned to the process (7) for re-use.
