The strut has an oil-filled working cylinder under the pressure of a gas cushion acting as a spring. An overload valve (28) arranged between a pump chamber (21) formed by a control sleeve (25) and a pump rod (27) and a high pressure chamber (9/11) carries a flow if there is a predefined pressure drop from the high pressure chamber towards the pump chamber.
