The device has a main field magnet, gradient and HF coils and a patient table (2), with the components of the magnetic tomography device which limit the access to the patient table during the magnetic resonance imaging being adjustable relative to the patient table. The components of the magnetic resonance imaging device, e.g. the main magnet and the attached gradient and HF coils, may be adjustable longitudinally relative to the patient table.
