PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To receive data by utilizing time for which a portable information terminal to be driven by a secondary battery is set up on a charging device. SOLUTION: The charging device 24 is provided with a tuner 51 acting as a data receiving circuit. During the period that the portable information terminal 14 including the secondary battery 84 in its inside is set up on the charging device 24, the battery 84 is charged by the device 24 and a television wave 53 for a data broadcast can be received by the tuner 51. Data multiplexed with a video signal outputted from the tuner 51 are decoded by a data decoding circuit 58 and stored in a data storage 72 built in the terminal 14. The data stored in the storage 74 can be reproduced on a liquid crystal display device 12 only by the terminal 14 itself.
