PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restart original operation immediately after photography without missing a shutter chance by saving an application which is currently executed when a shutter release switch is half-pressed and picking up an image. SOLUTION: When the shutter release SW 114 is half-pressed, a photography mode starts. The process states of respective applications such as a memo function and image display which are currently executed are saved in a temporary standby area 103d of a RAM 103. Various camera settings of automatic white balance, electronic flash correction, etc., which are controlled in an image processing part 108 are locked at current set values. A display drive part 112 and a display part 113 are stopped from operating. A full-image capture signal is inputted and its data are written to an image expansion area 103a in the RAM 103. Operation for display drive is restarted and image data are displayed on a display part 113 for a certain time. Then the saved data are put back and the previous application processes are restarted from their breakpoints.
