PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress and eliminate the noise component of a multi-band image that is caused by an electric noise by calculating a noise elimination component by multiplying the edge noise mixed image data by a noise elimination weighing factor that is increased as the correlation value is decreased between the edge noise mixed image data. SOLUTION: A smoothing processing arithmetic part 14a produces the smoothed image data, and an edge noise mixed component extraction part 14b extracts the edge noise mixed image data. An image correlation value arithmetic part 14c calculates the correlation value between the edge noise mixed image data at every position of each pixel of an original image. A noise elimination coefficient arithmetic part 14d calculates a noise elimination weighing factor that is increased as the said correlation value is decreased. A noise elimination component arithmetic part 14e multiplies the edge noise mixed image data by the noise elimination weighing factor to produce a noise elimination component. Then a noise elimination processing arithmetic part 14f magnifies variably the noise elimination component by a variable magnification coefficient and subtracts the noise elimination component from the original image data to obtain the noise elimination image data. |
