PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply much EGR gas to a combustion chamber by constituting EGR and intake ports into separate systems, maintaining the valve opened condition of an EGR valve by an electromagnetic drive device, and making the space of a drive mechanism small in this diesel engine. SOLUTION: In this diesel engine, exhaust gas passed through a turbo-charger 14 is cooled by a cooling device 17, and an EGR valve 6 is lifted by EGR gas pressure in the initial stage of a suction stroke, to maintain the valve opened condition of the valve 6 by an electromagnetic drive device composed of an electromagnet 42 and a permeable member 41, thereby supplying the EGR gas into a combustion chamber 1; and then an intake valve 7 is lifted to supply compressed air and also a part of fuel into the chamber 1, to promote mixing the EGR gas, the fuel, and the compressed air, and igniting fuel is injected at a compression top dead center to ignite and burn mixed gas, thereby preventing causing NOx, black smoke, and knocking. |
