PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably detect a linear defect regardless of the presence or absence of the occurrence the zigzag of a body to be scanned by correcting the position of a defect detection signal based on the amount of change that orthogonally crosses the transportation direction of the body to be inspected and discriminating a signal obtained by performing integration for a specific number of times. SOLUTION: Line signals L1, L2,... are successively acquired by a sensor 2 for detecting defect for each line-shaped region that orthogonally crosses the transportation direction due to the transportation of a body 1 to be inspected and are stored at detection signal storage parts 41, 42,... temporarily. Each stored defect detection signal is subjected to position correction by an amount-of-zigzag correction means 5 based on the fluctuation of the edge, namely the amount of zigzag, of the body 1 to be inspected obtained by a sensor 3 for measuring the amount of zigzag being provided side by side near the sensor 2 for detecting defect. The n position-corrected, continuous defect detection signals are integrated by a detection signal integration means 6, the integrated defect detection signal is subjected to discrimination processing using a specific threshold by a defect discrimination means 7, thus extracting the defect, which is outputted to the outside by a defect information-outputting means 8, is recorded at an alarm recorder according to applications, and performing processing such as marking at the position of the defect.
