PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnet switch for a starter that is small in size and light in weight without reducing the center distance between fixed terminals. SOLUTION: This magnet switch is provided with a switch case 109, a mold cap 108 fixed to the switch case 109 through caulking parts 109d, two fixed terminals 107 each comprising a fixed contact shaft 107a and a fixed contact 107b, and a moving contact 5. In this case, the caulking parts 109d are formed in the vicinity of an open end 108b of the mold cap 108 and between the fixed terminals 107 and a coil terminal conductor 21, and constitute four of the crimped parts crimped to and engaged with the mold cap 108 at a position radially inside more than the inside diameter d3 of the switch case 109. The outside diameter d1 of the mold cap 108 may be nearly equal to or more than the outside diameter d2 of the switch case 109. The cross-sectional shape of the fixed contact 107b is octagonal, and sides 108f, 108g are generally parallel with the circumferential surface of the mold cap 108.
