PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal element which rapidly dissipates air bubbles even in the case a gas entering from the outside turns into air bubbles. SOLUTION: An unsealing part 10, which can discharge the inside of a liquid crystal element into atmosphere, is provided on at least one of substrates, for example on an upper substrate 4, in a non-displaying part, except a displaying part, of the liquid crystal element. The unsealing part 10 is sealed with a tight seal 8 in the case of usual use so as to prevent outside air from directly entering the inside of the liquid crystal element from the unsealing part 10.
