PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the pressure of a pressure measuring film exceeding a measurable pressure range when the pressure measuring film changing the coloring state depending on the pressing force is pressed while being sandwiched between a pair of point contact or line contact pressing planes and a maximum pressure being applied between pressing planes is measured from the coloring state of the pressure measuring film. SOLUTION: A pressure measuring film 18 having a measurable pressure range lower than the maximum pressure being applied between pressing planes is employed and an elastic sheet 16 is sandwiched between one pressing plane 14C and the pressure measuring film 18 having a spot or linear contact part 14B. The pressure being applied to the pressure measuring film 18 is confined within the measurable pressure range and the maximum pressure being applied between the pressing planes 12A, 14C is measured using a pressure distribution detected from the coloring state of the pressure measuring film 18.
