PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dry clothing and the like required a long period of time conventionally within a shorter period of time than the time required by a conventional drying machine, by a method wherein an air pressure in a drum with the clothing and the like therein is increased sand decreased. SOLUTION: Clothing and the like to be dried are charged into a drum 2 through the take-out port 6 of the same and a lid is closed surely. Thereafter, the drum 2 is turned into the direction 5 until the clothing and the like are taken out of the drum. Dried warm-air is charged sufficiently into the drum 2 through an air intake port 4, then, regulating valves at the air outlet port 1 and the air intake port 4 are closed to seal dried and warmed air into the drum 2. Subsequently, a device 3 is moved forward and rearward to repeat the pressurizing and evacuating of the air in the drum 2. Thereafter, the regulating valves at the air outlet port 1 and the air intake port 4 are opened to discharge air containing moisture through the air discharging port 1 while introducing dried warm-air through the air intake port 4. When the air in the drum 2 is displaced in some degree, the valves at the ports 1, 4 are closed and the device 3 is moved forward and rearward to repeat the pressurizing and evacuating of the air in the drum 2. These operations are repeated until the clothing and the like are dried sufficiently and, thereafter, the rotation 5 of the drum 2 is stopped to take out the dried clothing and the like through the take-out port 6.
