PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a facsimile equipment that can transmit facsimile information as information legible by an opposite party in the case of transmitting the facsimile information to the opposite party installed in a language zone where a language different from a language used in a sender is used. SOLUTION: An automatic translation transmission function of the facsimile terminal 1 uses an image/text conversion means 3 to recognize image data of an original document 2 read by an original read section 101, converts the image data into text data and the text data are given to any of text translation means 4, 5, 6 on the basis of language information relating to a language in use declared by an opposite facsimile equipment 11 at a receiver side. A text/ image conversion means 7 receives the text data translated by each of the text translation means 4, 5, 6 and converts the text data into image data, which are transmitted or given to a character code conversion means 9, which converts the text data into corresponding character codes, and they are transmitted.
