<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron emission element for improving electron emission efficiency. SOLUTION: This electron emission element is provided with a low voltage side electrode 2 and a high voltage side electrode 3 formed on a substrate 1, an electron emission part formed between the electrodes 2, 3 and emitting electrons, and an anode electrode installed on the substrate 1. Exposing a secondary electron emission material on the upper side in the region from the electron emission part to the high voltage side electrode 3, secondary electrons efficiently are emitted to the anode electrode side for improving electron emission efficiency. Auxiliary electrodes are formed on the substrate 1 in the vicinity of the high voltage side electrode 3 interposing an insulating layer or a high resistant layer for applying a higher voltage to the auxiliary electrode than to the high voltage electrode 3 to pull electrons emitted by the electron emission part toward the auxiliary electrode.</p> |
