PURPOSE: A memory type control apparatus for receiving an infrared ray remote controller signal and method for controlling an instrument using the same is provided to easily and conveniently control the instrument by variously controlling various several instruments except for an original instrument. CONSTITUTION: An infrared ray receiving unit(11) receives an infrared ray signal transmitted from an infrared ray signal generating remote controller. An infrared ray signal processing unit(14) converts the infrared ray signal inputted from the infrared ray receiving unit(11) into a digital signal. A memory button input unit(12) judges whether the digital signal processed in the infrared ray signal processing unit(14) is stored. A control instrument state detecting and input unit(13) detects a state of instruments. A control unit(15) compares the digital signal processed in the infrared ray signal processing unit(14) with an input content inputted from the memory button input unit(12) and an input content inputted from the control instrument state detecting and input unit(13) and generates a control signal. A control signal generating unit(17) converts the control signal generated in the control unit(15) into a control signal of a corresponding instrument.
