PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pigment-containing thermosetting powder coating composition capable of giving coating layers having lustrous (brilliant) hammered finish. SOLUTION: This pigment-containing thermosetting powder coating composition contains at least one type of a pigment having a special effect and can be produced by blending a thermosetting resin, a curing agent, conventional additives and fillers, and the pigment or pulverized particles of a preparation containing the pigment, subjecting the blend thus obtained to extrusion at high temperatures, then performing cooling operation to obtain an extrudate, and subsequently subjecting the extrudate to crushing, grinding, and screening to obtain a powder coating composition. In this instance, the blend to be extruded further contains a resin-free carrier which protects the pigment having a special effect and does not agglomerate with the pigment.
