PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a luster coating composition capable of obtaining a feeling of luster with a feeling of higher quality by exhibiting a feeling of three- dimensional luster in addition to a feeling of glittering luster due to the multi- directional reflections which a metal oxide-coated aluminum flake pigment possesses, and to provide a method for forming coated films, and coated materials. SOLUTION: A coating composition comprises a vehicle, a metal oxide-coated aluminum flake pigment, and a mica pigment, and the hue (H) of the metal oxide-coated aluminum flake pigment in the Munsell system is in the hue range of +25 to +50 or -25 to -50 when the hue of the mica pigment relative to 100 of the Munsell hue circle is regarded zero and designated left-handed +50 and right-handed -50.
