PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce idle time and improve productivity by moving back an extruding stem and a container after billet extruding is completed, raising a billet loader in the meantime, and subsequently loading a billet, and simultaneously, lowering a shearing equipment to cut a discard. SOLUTION: This method uses such an extruding press that a billet loader to transfer a billet 38 to a billet loading port 39 of a container 14 is integrally provided so as to be able to move back and forth together with the container 14. After the billet 38 is extruded, the extruding stem 28 and the container 14 are moved back to have them separated from dies 40, and at the same time, the billet loader loaded with the billet 38 between the container 14 and the extruding stem 28 is raised. Subsequently as the extruding stem 28 moves forward, the billet 38 is loaded into the billet loading port 39, and at the same time, the shearing equipment is lowered to cut the discard 96, and then the container 14 is moved forward and brought into contact with the dies, and the extruding stem 28 is moved forward to complete the extruding.
