QUICK INDICATION TEST FOR TOXIC AMMONIA IN WATER SAMPLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method, a test reagent, and a useful device as a test piece for detecting a toxic ammonia level in a water sample such as water tank water. SOLUTION: A certain amount of water subject to inspection is brought into contact with a soda lime reagent to increase the pH up to at least 10, and is simultaneously brought into contact with a hydrophobic barrier film allowing gaseous ammonia to penetrate. A pH coloring indicator composite coloring responding to and identifying a penetration of gaseous ammonia is applied on the barrier film. A color tone response of the sample is compared with a standard color chart to determine the toxic ammonia potential.
