A rotary vane pumping machine (10) includes a stator (200) and rotor (100) in relative rotation. The rotor (100) has a plurality of radial vanes (120) and slots (130), and each one of a corresponding plurality of vanes (120) slides within a radial vane slot (130) of the rotor (100). Each pair of adjacent vanes (120) defines a vane cell (140). A rotary scavenging disk (500) is disposed along the stator circumference, and is sized such that the rotary scavenging disk extends into the vane cell (140). An outer circumferential edge (500e) of the rotary scavenging disk (500) is in sealing proximity with an outer circumferential edge (100e) of the rotor (100) and recesses (520) within the rotary scavenging disk (500) mesh and seal with the extending and retracting vanes (120).
