PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive horizontal cut excavator which can shorten a distance from a central portion of an excavator main body to a cutter, to thereby downsize the entire excavator. SOLUTION: A main frame 4 is attached to a main body 1c of a mobile truck 1 having a traveling body 1a. A longitudinal guide frame which is horizontally moved by a horizontal moving apparatus is attached to the main frame 4. A cutter driver 6 which is vertically lifted/lowered by a vertically moving apparatus is attached to the longitudinal guide frame. Excavation is carried out to a predetermined depth under the ground by driving an auger screw-type cutter 7 or an endless cutter by the cuter driver 6, and thereafter the cutter is moved horizontally by means of a horizontal moving apparatus simultaneously with the drive of the cutter. A leader 5 is attached to the main frame 5, and the cutter and a hanging apparatus 8 which hangs the cutter driver are attached to the leader 5.
