PURPOSE:To accelerate warm-up of a catalyst by making effective use of a highly volatile purge gas. CONSTITUTION:An activation means 44 activates an oxygen concentration sensor 42 at early stages using a heating means 43 at start-up, and a correction means 45 performs feedback compensation of an air-fuel ratio according to an output of the sensor 42 so that the air-fuel ratio coincides with a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio when water temperature is low before warm-up of a catalyst is complete. A valve opening means 48 opens a purge valve 46 when the judgment result of a judgment means 47 indicates a purging condition. When the judgment result of the judgment means 49 indicates that purging is under way and water temperature is low before warm-up of the catalyst is complete, a calculation means 50 retards a fundamental ignition timing ADV0 according to an operating condition signal, thereby calculating an ignition timing ADV. |
