PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reliability by removing dust adhering to recording media which cause a drop out or the like before shipping the media. SOLUTION: In a disk cartridge, a recording medium 4 is accommodated rotatably in a case C having liners 5 and 6 fixed to the inner faces. The recording medium 4 is held by a rotary driving shaft 21, and at least one of the recording medium 4 and case C is relatively inclined or moved up and down so that a surface of the recording medium 4 is forcibly brought in contact with the liners 5 and 6. The recording medium is rotated in this state to clean the surface and remove dust.
