PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photomultiplier capable of restraining generation of noise caused by a bridge remaining part. SOLUTION: An etching technique is used in forming photomultiplier holes 8 on plate-shaped dynodes 8 laminated into multi stages, in a photomultiplier tube 1. In performing the etching, a pattern frame 22 is arranged on the periphery of the plate-shaped dynode substrate 20, and the pattern frame 22 and the edge 20a of the dynode substrate 20 are connected to each other by a bridge part 23. In a state where the dynode substrate 20 is masked, etching is performed to form many photomultiplier holes 8a on the dynode substrate 20. The bridge part 23 is cut on the dynode substrate 20 side to make a bridge part 8c slightly remained on the edge 8b of the dynode 8. The bridge remaining part 8c of the adjacent dynode 8 is arranged in the position opposite to the laminated direction of the dynodes 8, and therefore, basic characteristics of the photomultiplier 1 are further improved.
