PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the uniformity of illumination in the length direction in a line illuminator provided with plural point light sources on one end side. SOLUTION: A sub light scattering pattern 21 consists of two spot-shape patterns 21a and 21b, provided while being separated in a cross direction at a position deviated from the center line of a main light scattering pattern in the longitudinal direction. The normal lines of the two patterns 21a and 21b are made to cross orthogonally with the central line of any of plural point light sources 14a to 14c which extends along the longitudinal direction. More specifically, the central lines of the red and green point light sources 14a and 14c are made to cross orthogonally with the normal lines of the patterns 21a and 21b.
