PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an merchandise information database suitable for generating merchandise information allocation data for new version medium by selecting merchandise photographs or character information while displaying merchandise information, which is printed on a former version medium, on a screen. SOLUTION: This system is provided with a merchandise information storage means 20 for storing plural kinds of merchandise information including rough image data for picture display, an allocation information storage means 40 for storing plural kinds of merchandise information allocation data for defining the picture display layout of merchandise information, an allocation data specifying means 34 for specifying the article information allocation data and a merchandise information display means 35 for reading the merchandise information, which is defined in the merchandise information allocation data specified by the allocation data specifying means 34, out of the merchandise information storage means 20 and displaying it in the prescribed arrangement on the screen. The merchandise information allocation data stored in the allocation information storage means 40 are arranged practically equally with the former version medium produced in the past and the merchandise information is displayed on the screen.
