An apparatus for the continuous stripping of plastic insulation and/or lacquer from round section electrical conductor (200) has at least three cutting blades (8) rotated by a single drive mechanism about a common axis which includes the centreline of the conductor (200). Each blade carrier (6) pivots about a fulcrum (3) situated in a cross member (103) attached to a hollow (101) shaft (100) and the exchangeable blades (8) are mounted in holders (7) at the ends of the carriers (6). The centrifugal force generated by rotation of the shaft (100) throws the blades (8) onto the conductor (200) during stripping and radial motion/depth of cut is limited by the stop sleeve (102) and adjustable setscrews (1,2).
