<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain new proteins which have specific amino acid sequences, are involved in the control of blood vessel neogenesis, and are useful for preventing and treating diseases which are involved in blood vessel neogenesis. SOLUTION: These are new proteins which have amino acid sequences shown by formulas I and II or amino acid sequences which are modified by deleting, adding, inserting, and/or substituting one or more amino acid(s) from, to, into, and/or in the sequences, and are functionally identical to these proteins. It is preferable to prepare a protein which is encoded by DNA which hybridizes to DNA containing a base sequence shown by formula III and is functionally identical to the protein having an amino acid sequence shown by formula I or II. In addition, it is preferable to produce the protein by culturing a transformant carrying a vector containing DNA coding for the protein having an amino acid sequence shown by formula I or II.</p> |
