METHOD FOR FOLDING GAS BAG OF SIDE AIRBAG

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for folding an airbag for a side bag which can be installed in a relatively small installation space and which can achieve a short inflation time. SOLUTION: A gas bag is folded back along a folding edge A into an approximately rectangular shape and a connecting plate is placed in the region of the folding edge A. Edges 2a, (c) perpendicular to the folding edge A are folded back at a folding edge C perpendicular to the folding edge A and are thereby made parallel. This folded configuration is folded down 90 deg. by use of a folding ruler to form a free space. Folding rulers are placed inside and outside the space and the gas bag is further folded onto itself into a meandering configuration. The gas bag is then folded down 90 deg. at a folding edge F into a double-box configuration. The gas bag is further folded down 180 deg. about a folding edge G into a final box configuration.
