PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To elongate the life, to reduce the power consumption and to miniaturize a display unit by mounting a white light emitting element for applying the light transmitted through a diffusion plate to the characters on a surface plate or its periphery. SOLUTION: As a white LED 13 is combined with a color plate 11 to be used as a light source, the desired light can be applied, the power consumption can be remarkably reduced, and a display unit can be miniaturized. Further the life of the display unit can be elongated, and the display unit can be used for a long time without maintenance. As a color of this color plate, for example, an orange color plate 11 is used, and as the lighting light of the white LED 13 transmits through the color plate 11, and is converted into the thin yellow light similar to the light of an incandescent lamp by the conversion of wavelength when the light of the wavelength of about 450 nm (400-500 nm) can be absorbed, the surface plate 1 can be irradiated similarly as that by the incandescent lamp. By using the white LED 13 combined with the orange color plate 11, the power consumption can be remarkably reduced, and the long life can be realized. |
