PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling bearing capable of reducing deterioration in sound in comparison with a conventional bearing even when foreign matter intrudes in the rolling bearing and capable of reducing abrasion loss. SOLUTION: A rolling surface 4a of a rolling element 4 is made harder than each of track surfaces 1a, 2a of an outer ring 2, and hardness of the track surfaces 1a, 2a of the outer ring 2 is made more than HV 400, and its residual compression stress is made 5 kgf/mm2. Consequently, marring of the rolling surface 4a of the rolling element 4 by marring the side of the track surfaces 1a, 2a of the inner and outer rings 1, 2 mainly at the time of biting foreign matter is reduced as much as possible, and generation of non-continuous sound and occurrence of abrasion and peeling with marring as its starting point are restrained.
