<p>A method of treating a polluted or contaminated substrate comprising creating a plurality of treatment columns in the substrate, each treatment column having the form of a permeable matrix bearing a silicic acid composition and a solution of an alkaline metal salt, the size, location and spacing of the columns being selected such that leachates in the substrate contact a matrix in their natural migration through the substrate.</p> |
