The device for feeding cores (2) into a container (3) at the exit of a thread processing machine, e.g. a winding machine, comprises a sloping ramp (9) which has guides along its sides. This delivers the cores to a feed tube whose width is slightly larger than the length of the core and whose depth is less than this length, so that the cores are fed horizontally into the container. This has a width which corresponds to the length of the cores.
