PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set colors in a short time without caring about the overlapping of similar color ranges by providing a plurality of color set value holding means for holding the upper and lower limit values of a color spatial parameter about a color to be extracted and a color adjusting means capable of reading and writing a parameter value. SOLUTION: A 1st color set value holding mean 9 holds a parameter about a 1st color similar color range to be extracted and outputs upper and lower limit set values for lightness, hue and saturation as a 1st color set signal 11. Similarly, a 2nd color set value holding means 10 outputs a 2nd color set signal 12. A color adjusting means 18 reads a set value about two colors written in the means 9 and 10 and inspects the existence/absence of color spatial overlapping. When there is no overlapping, the change of set values is not performed, and when overlapping is detected, color spatial overlapping is separated and set values are changed. Then, the overlapping of similar color ranges is eliminated and erroneous extraction is eliminated.
